@NotMeNotYou: Yeah, I heard that it could hurt you in survival, but I wasn't aware the "stopping" part was actually there.

@zenitix: Wow, despite being so hard, I'm surprised Dark Souls is rather lenient on its carry weight.

@Chameloshi: The part where you can't roll in Dark Souls games if you're above 100% equip load is almost a death sentence cause you really need a roll, it's super important to anyone who's not a challenge runner.

Look up the way inventory and item containers in nethack work. Lots of items works both for and against you.

@Chameloshi: That being said, Demon's Souls (lesser known predecessor by the same company) has both an equip load and a max carry weight, and when you reach near 100% carry weight in that game, you can't pick up anything that would put you above 100%.
