Unlucky! I'm not sure how much influence genetics has on the taste, but diet definitely seems to have an impact. Candy, chocolate, basically anything sweet and lot's of it. Pineapple - but only if you like the flavour of pineapple.

It also depends on how you're receiving it as well. I doubt many loads taste pleasant when it's striking you in the back of your throat

Huh, never figured it can taste different. In my whole experience of exactly one time, it only tasted sort of like raw eggs.
