I'm curious about that "when prompted". Is performance anxiety part of it? Being watched can make someone doubt their own competence even for relatively simple tasks.

It's not that deep. The person I'm talking about is a habitual liar who is lazy, and simply does not want to do anything they are told to do. This isn't a buisness setting either, so its not performance anxiety, and I'm not bothering to watch them. Its more of a " Did you do (insert thing here)? " "No, I didn't do it because I do not know how." "I showed you how to yesterday." "Oh. Oh well."
