Character: n (pokemon)

N (full name Natural Harmonia Gropius) is a major antagonist in Pokémon Black & White Versions. He is the adopted son of Ghetsis and a figurehead "king" of Ghetsis' criminal organization, Team Plasma. N possesses the unique ability to understand Pokémon speech, and was raised by Pokémon as a young child; his true parentage is unknown.

Though he is referred to as the "king" of Team Plasma, the title is portrayed as purely ceremonial, and so he is not considered true royalty. Fanworks may depict him with a royal aesthetic, however.

It is a common fan theory that N's ability to understand Pokémon speech is because he is himself a Pokémon capable of shape-shifting into a human, such as Mew or Zoroark. You may see fanworks that utilize this theory as part of an Alternate Universe, but N is canonically human.
