Lieutenant Sousuke (or Sōsuke or simply Sosuke) is an original Hisuian Samurott character created by Zourik. His very first "appearance" is at the end of the last page of the Setting Up the Bait comic. He appears more clearly on the cover of the Setting Up the Bait II comic.

He's an anthro male Hisuian Samurott, his whole body is dark blue, with a white countershading on his torso.

His head is surmounted by a very dark shell with red lines, very large ending in a point resembling a large horn. On his face, he wears a black eye patch over his left eye, both his eyes are red... His eyebrows, sideburns and goatee are white. He also has a small red nose.
His finger claws and toe claws are dark red, the same color as the nipples on his white pecs.

He is also often depicted wearing a red jacket open over his shoulders, exactly the same as Coach Sam wears open.

As his name suggests, Lieutenant Sousuke is a former lieutenant, now a swimming coach.

(Originally, his name was to have been spelled "Sosuke" but was eventually transcribed to fit the lengthening of the kana "u" in "そうすけ" or of the dash in "ソースケ")

His personality is rather stern, but ends up resembling the Unovian Samurott by having intercourse with the student Nathan and with the Principal Solgaleo.

His Unovian counterpart is Coach Sam.
