Character: beetlejuice (character)
Betelgeuse/Beetlejuice (depending on which canon is being referred to; the names are homophones) is the titular character from the Beetlejuice franchise, comprising (as of September 2024) two films (Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), a stage musical (also titled Beetlejuice) and a cartoon that ran for four seasons (also titled Beetlejuice).
Regardless of canon, the character's usual appearance is near-identical. Beetlejuice is an undead with pale skin and greenish-blonde hair, wearing a black-and-white pinstripe suit with a black tie and contrasting undershirt (white in film, purple in the cartoon).
In film canon, Betelgeuse (named for the star ) is a "bio-exorcist" who is hired to remove living people from the houses of whoever hires them. He is played by Michael Keaton in both films. Betelgeuse is summoned/banished by saying his name three times in a row; as a consequence of this he cannot himself say his name.
In cartoon canon, Beetlejuice is a resident of the "Neitherworld", a dimension roughly analogous to an afterlife, and is a prankster and con artist who has access to unusually powerful magic. He is voiced by Stephen Ouimette.
