Professor Rowan (Japanese name: ナナカマド博士 Nanakamado-hakase, Dr. Nanakamado) is the Pokémon Professor of Generation Ⅳ. He specializes in evolutions of Pokémon.

In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, he gives young trainers the choice of their starter between: Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup.

Professor Rowan works in Sandgem Town with Dawn or Lucas (depending on the player's gender) and their family.
He is the first Pokémon professor in games on handheld consoles not to live in the player's home town...

Professor Rowan has the appearance of an old-looking professor – actually – he is aged 60 to be precise. He has white hair, white eyebrows and a white mustache with the ends drooping down.

He is light-skinned and wears a white shirt with a black necktie and a blue jacket, dark blue pants and brown shoes.
