Stellaari of Sha'eel is the name of the firstborn daughter of the head minister of Sha'eel. What makes the mustelids of Sha'eel stand out is their technological advances and influences. They have a rumor of being a "nation of geniuses", and that rumor isn't too far from the truth.
The heart of Sha'eel is based on the eternal pursuit of knowledge, and the search for the truth. They are highly advanced, considering the era, especially in the areas of technology and astronomy. They were the ones who first mapped out the astrological map and how it shifted through the seasons, they were one of the first who discovered that the plane they lived on was a round planet orbiting the sun in an endless, empty space, and it is even said that they were the first who invented the wheel and even discovered fire.
Their technology has long influenced other nations and even the isolated Shajarat kingdom utilizes systems first invented by the Sha'eel.
What is also different about Sha'eel is their use of a democratic government rather than their neighbors' archaic monarchies, where the country is run by a council of ministers elected by the people every seventh year. However, even with all their progresses, they are no fighters. So when Shomari were finished with conquering the Ithaka people at the start of his crusade, and he set his eyes on Sha'eel, the ministers of Sha'eel didn't know how to respond.
It took many days of deliberation before a decision was made: they would hire general Irm of the North and his mercenary army "The Gods of Blood and Snow", and let them fight for their account, willing to give them anything they required and wanted as long as they helped keep the invading forces at bay.
At first Irm and his "Gods" seemed unbeatable, but whatever they did Shomari seemed to have a well planned counter to match. It was like he was always a step ahead.
And when defeat became imminent, The Gods of Blood and Snow fled with their tails between their legs. Taking their payments with them.
Left completely at Shomari's mercy the ministers decided to bow to the invader, and to save their people and themselves chose to submit. However, Shomari only really needs one ambassador from each conquered nation below him, so the other ministers were quickly and unceremoniously dethroned, and let only the head minister remain. He also, along with the rest of his demanded tributes, took the head minister's young daughter Salena to be his slave. But the public outcry from such a barbaric act was quickly quelled after a few public beheadings.Salena is, as expected, an extremely intelligent and brainy girl. She loves the things that would bore normal people out, but has an extreme fascination for astronomy and space. She has a theory that somewhere out there are many other planets like theirs; one with life.
But unfortunately, she isn't especially mentally strong or brave. The uncaring, ruthless nature of Shomari is already bad enough, but she has another struggle she's facing in his power: Salena is a lesbian. Males have never appealed to her, neither has the thoughts of family and marriage. And now, she as well as his two other slaves, are subjected to daily abuse by, to her, the worst kind of male. One that is cold, uncaring, ruthless, barbaric, and hedonistic.
And things only escalate after "the incident", until she is living her daily life in fear and near panic whenever Shomari is near. Not even the arrivals of Anaïs and Naunet (whom she has an especially hard time to get along with due to their difference in beliefs) do much to ease her pain, even if they are able to provide something she sorely lacked at the time: support.
