Incubators, or Messengers of Magic, are an alien species originating from the anime series Puella Magi Magica Madoka.

They have the ability to grant one wish to any young girl, on the condition that they form a contract with them and become a Magical Girl to fight Witches. Messengers of Magic have the goal to stave off entropy and heat death of the universe by manifesting the impossibly high energy from the souls of emotionally unstable and flighty prepubescent human girls. The souls of the girls are extracted and converted into a Soul Gem which acts as the source of a Magical Girl's Powers. However, the Soul Gem becomes darkened with use, requiring the extermination of Witches and the usage of their Grief Seeds to clear the darkness within their soul. The Grief Seed is then given to the Messengers of Magic. Should a Magical Girl become unwilling or unable to collect Grief Seeds or falls into despair, their Soul Gem will turn Black and become a Grief Seed causing the magical girl to become a witch. This necessitates the creation of more Magical Girls and the cycle continues.

Incubators are small cat-like creatures about two feet long (including tail). Their entire body is covered in often clean, white fur. They has what appear to be four ears; two that resemble an average cat, pointed and up, while the other two appear as long tassel-like appendages that split into three sections at their tip. The tassels fade from white to pink and have three red dots horizontally before the splits. they also bear a pair of floating golden rings.

Incubators have two beady pink and red eyes with dark maroon irises and a tiny, omega-shaped "cat mouth". Incubators communicate telepathically and their faces never change expression or move.under most circumstances. Combined with their distinctive eyes and lack emotions creates an uneasy sense that the Incubator are staring directly into your soul.

On his back is an egg-shaped red oval. In episode 6, this oval flips up, like a trapdoor to act as a receptacle for grief seed fragments.
