A cutway, or more descriptively an "inset panel" is a small panel within a larger image that depicts something within the same scene that is unseen in the larger view.

Cutaway Examples

• An expression cutaway showing a character's face in a panel or bubble reacting to something within the scene
• This can show the face of a character whose back is to the viewer's point of view, or the reaction of an otherwise offscreen character
• An internal within a small panel — showing the inside of a character's body, with the larger scene depicting an external view of the same character, typically seen in sexual situations with internal vaginal or internal anal, and especially in vore content showing an internal view of the stomach
• A close-up within a smaller panel
• "sex shots", close-up close cropped views of genitalia during sexual activities, are often seen within a cutaway panel
• butt shots are commonly seen through cutway panels, with the main part of the image showing the character's front
