A family tree is a diagram showing the geneological relations between characters who are from the same family.

Family trees can be more or less complex, with or without gender symbols, names, photos, etc.
Diagrams generally have lines linked according to certain concepts (love relationships, adoptive relationships, etc).

If an individual is born of a relationship between two characters who are NOT supposed to have sexual relations (e.g. two cousins or siblings, a parent and their child who make another child): this individual is born of a incestuous relationship. (See "Family tumbleweed")
