Shadow face describes a character whose face is represented as a black void with simplified facial features — often just their eyes and mouth.
Typically, these characters' faces are shaded by a hood or hat, which obscures the face even when it would be physically impossible.
In other cases, a character's face is covered in perpetual shadow for no apparent reason at all, often to make a character appear creepy. A character with a shadow face usually has their normal skin, scales or fur colour represented by other parts of their body.
