Copyright: dream vs gumball

In 2023, the youtuber Dream had soured relations with Gumball Watterson's voice actor Nicolas Cantu. Nicolas first responded to a fake Dream account mentioning that he "want[ed Dream] dead".

In response, Dream posted a video of the two of them in a car, where he was driving and Nicolas was drunk (note that Nicolas was 20, which is considered underaged drinking). Nicolas made many harsh remarks to Dream, involving homophobia, ableism, and death threats (note: Cantu is LGBT, and both Dream and Cantu are neurodivergent).

Contrary to what Dream expected, the majority of Twitter/X took Nicolas' side and considered his remarks "witty". A factor that may have caused this was that Dream was already very "controversial" (confirmed cheated speedruns, allegations of racism and grooming).
