Surge the Tenrec is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW) comic series. She is an anthropomorphic tenrec who was modified into a villainous cyborg by Doctor Starline with no memories of her past, and the companion of Kitsunami the Fennec. Initially made for the intended purpose of destroying Sonic the Hedgehog and replacing him as the hero of the world, she would begin seeking revenge on everyone she blames for her past life being taken away from her after discovering the truth of her origin.

Having been modified by Dr. Starline with cybernetic enhancements, Surge possesses an array of powers. She has the ability to generate electricity of varying intensity and project it as small lightning bolts or sparks, as well as the ability to move at super speeds fast enough to keep up with Sonic.
