Contact onomatopoeia is an umbrella tag for onomatopoeia representing contact focused sounds. This tag commonly applies to sound effects related to rubbing, gripping, and light or heavy impact themes.

The source of the sound effect does not need to be visible for this tag to apply.

Impacts and collisions

Consider using this base tag for generally light contact examples, and impact_onomatopoeia for heavier contact / collision sound effects. Most common impact sound effects will have their own dedicated sound effect tag.

The intensity of the impact can be used to change a light impact theme to a heavy impact theme.

General exclusions

Sound effects listed here probably shouldn't be treated as an contact sound effect. This list is subject to change.

• compression_sound_effect - For now sound effects that fall under compression are left out of the contact onomatopoeia tag. Many of these though, particularly squeezing variants, are probably compatible with the tag.
• crushing_sound_effect
• plop - If it seems like a derivation of "Plap", then it counts. It could refer to "Pop" instead.
