periareolar scar
A type of scar typically associated with breast augmentation surgery, breast reductions, and mastectomies. It is found encircling the very outside of the areola, or the pigmented area around the nipple. Unlike mammoplasty scars, a line does not run down the underside of the breast for these.
These scars are typically the result of a mastectomy if found on breastless chests, and a result of breast augmentation or reduction if found on breasts.
