The Mahjarrat are both a species and a tribe-like group in the game RuneScape. The Mahjarrat are divine beings - equivalent to being a low level god or angel, as such. Like all divine beings in RuneScape, they can change shape and size at will; unlike most other RuneScape gods, they tend to use this very often for various purposes. The default mahjarrat shape is mostly humanoid, though they have no hair and instead have various facial ridges and horns, the shape of which are specific to that mahjarrat. Their skin is generally grey, but can be white-, pink-, or even green-tinged. They have gems embedded in their foreheads, which contain their last memories when they die - the colour, shape, and number of gems varies between individuals.

The mahjarrat are generally all very powerful mages, though some have additional specialities like necromancy, illusion, the shadow realm, and manipulation. They have very long lifespans, but do eventually decay. As they decay, their magic wanes and they eventually become unable to shapeshift, and their base forms become more and more skeletal (looking like a stereotypical lich). To combat this, every 500 years they perform a ritual of rejuvination, where one of the mahjarrat is sacrificed in order to restore the energy of all the other attending mahjarrat. This has seen the number of mahjarrat decline over the millenia to a small number. In recent storyline, the need for the ritual was removed when their creator, the elder god Mah, was killed.

Zamorak was a mahjarrat that ascended to godhood, as was Azzanadra. Sliske is also a notable mahjarrat.

In Old School RuneScape, the latest ritual has not yet taken place, so the mahjarrat are in their skeletal lich forms.
