Character: guy-am-i
Guy-Am-I is the name given to the character that Sam-I-Am pesters in the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham by the 2019 Netflix animated series of the same name. He was unnamed in the original book and in other adaptations released prior to 2019 and was only known as "Sam's Friend" during that time.
He is a light yellow-furred (orange-furred with a pale yellow fluff of fur on his chest in the Netflix series) Knox (an anthropomorphic dog introduced the book Fox in Socks) who wears only a saggy black hat (brown hat in the Netflix series). He is a very grumpy individual who is constantly pressured by Sam-I-Am into trying the titular green eggs and ham throughout the story. The Netflix series, in which he is voiced by Michael Douglas, expands his character to him being a failed inventor who, after a presentation gone wrong, decides to give his dream to become a paint watcher. After a chance meeting with Sam-I-Am at a diner, he and Sam accidentally swap briefcases and finds the Chickeraffe that Sam kidnapped (Mr. Jenkins), becoming enveloped in Sam's supposed journey to free the Chickeraffe.
