Low poly, short for "low polygon" is a term that refers to computerized 3D models of basic shape. The surface of 3D models are made up of triangles and squares, referred to as polygons, so the more polygons a 3D model has, the smoother it looks. Conversely, the less polygons a 3D model has, the blockier and edgier it looks. By having less polygons or points to record, a 3D model takes up less file space.

Low poly models are known for their often use in older video games, because of file space constraints, but they have also been used for newer retro style games and ironic/ absurd humor memes.
