The hanging missionary position is an advanced variation of the missionary_position where the one partner stands upright and the other hangs off them backwards such that their abdomens face the same direction, while not (or barely) touching the ground. Usually, the former is the penetrator, and the latter is the penetrated.

If the penetrated partner faces the other direction, this is instead hanging_doggystyle, a close relative of revese_piledriver_position and pleasure_pretzel

If the penetrated partner's weight is held by the ground, and no hanging is involved, this is instead the reverse_wheelbarrow_position or piledriver_position
