Metroid Prime is a trilogy of first person shooter Metroid games featuring the series main protagonist Samus Aran investigating Space Pirate activity, as she explores alien worlds inhabited by hostile lifeforms, and ravaged by Phazon radiation, a primary plot influence throughout the three main games.0

The game series is named after the creature of the same name, which is encountered as a boss in all three games, but is only referred to as Metroid Prime in the first game. Metroid Prime takes on a new appearance in the following to games under the name Dark Samus.
