A throckmorton is essentially a possessed toaster, typically antagonistic to users. As such, it is not necessarily any old anthro toaster. As British author and satirist Douglas Adams defined it in his book The Meaning of Liff:

The soul of a departed madman: one of those now known to inhabit the timing mechanism of pop-up toasters.
