pig pen
An enclosure where pigs are kept. Usually full of mud for the pig's comfort. Pigs lack sebaceous glands, therefore they cover themselves in mud in leu of sweating. The dirt is used as an adhesive, while the water evaporates, taking heat with it. Pigs ensure there is a lot of churned earth by rooting around (digging with their snouts) in their enclosure. Generally, it's moistened periodically by the farmer.
Not to be confused with a character who is constantly dirty; for that, see slob.
