plantar flexion
Plantar flexion is the downward foot movement responsible for any tiptoe-like posture. (Think, "ballerina's toes".)
When performed delicately, this pose can express demure, cute, refined, or sexy overtones. It can also imply comfort and a desire to linger because the feet are not primed for travel. More actively, plantar flexion features in dancing, fighting, and other kinds of action poses.
Compared to tiptoes, the performer does not need to be standing.
Guidelines
This tag applies to any emphasis on flexion beyond normal walking angles. Note that different animal foot types, such as digitigrade, have steeper normal walking angles than humans and thus more of an angle to overcome for this pose.
Tag also plantar overflexion when the angle exceeds 180°.
Editor's Notes
The tiptoes tag may implicate plantar flexion.
