body modification

Body modification is the deliberate alteration of one's anatomy or physical appearance through traditional/physical/manual/realistic means without resorting to any form of fantastical/impossible/fictional means such as most methods of transformation (potions, magic, most science fiction technologies, nanomachines, goo, cartoon logic, etc.). Characters often undergo this procedure for aesthetics, sexual enhancement, shock value, religious beliefs, and other reasons. The act itself could be instigated by the character(s) themselves or a second party, be they consentual or not.
