Edging is a form of orgasm denial in which a character is exposed to stimulation while not having permission to, or is unable to orgasm from the stimulation. Edging can be performed over long periods of time, and may involve intervals of time where a character is stimulated to the point of orgasm before stimulation slows or is stopped entirely before a new stimulation cycle can begin.

If performed in a BDSM scenario, a character may be tasked with resisting orgasm until their partner commands them to. Sometimes this experience will lead to a character becoming desperate to have an orgasm.

If performed as a solo activity, care must be taken that the context can be distinguished from a normal masturbation scene. Evidence of edging may involve enlarged testicles, or excessive amounts of precum.

Has nothing to do with edgeplay, BDSM activities that either cross the line or come close to it.
