Species: sciurid
Sciurids, members of Sciuridae and also known collectively as squirrels, are a family of well known and iconic rodents. Known collectively as the "squirrel family", it includes animals such as the tree squirrels and ground squirrels.
Generally being small in stature, the typical Sciurid tend to be slender, have long, bushy tails, soft pelts, and characteristic rodent incisors. Most squirrels have long hind limbs and versatile claws for grasping and climbing, seen most especially in the Tree squirrels, who can also unusually descend trees head-first. Squirrels have an excellent sense of vision thanks to their enlarged eyes, especially important for the tree-dwelling squirrels.
