holly (plant)
- Commonly confused with mistletoe, holly has sharp-pointed leaves with red (common) or white (inkberry) berries, while mistletoe has smooth-edged leaves and (commonly) white or (sometimes) red berries. Leaf shape is the determining factor.
In many Western Christian cultures, holly is a traditional Christmas decoration, used especially in wreaths and illustrations, for instance on Christmas cards.
