obliques

The obliques are the muscles at either side of the abdominal muscles, technically called the abdominal external oblique muscles, but could possibly also refer to the underlying abdominal internal oblique muscles.

The anterior serratus muscles can be found slightly above these.

The obliques as well as serratus muscles are sometimes overlooked by artists despite showing bulging abs and pectorals, either intentionally, to simplify, or by not having studied muscle anatomy.
