Crouching, also known as squatting, is a body position similar to standing that involves bending the knees to bring the upper body closer to the ground. The character should be resting only on their feet or equivalent anatomy which distinguishes crouching from similar positions such as kneeling and sitting.

When done over a character or a large object, it may also count as straddling.
