Atari is a brand name associated with retro computers, video games, and an entire lineup of video game consoles. The name is often associated with the home console, Atari 2600.
Corporate structure
The Atari name originated with the company Atari inc. in 1972, a computer, and video game company that went down during the infamous video game crash of 1983. It was never fully recovered in the aftermath.
By 1984, Atari, inc.'s computer, and home console division had been sold off to Tramel Technologies Ltd. which was then renamed to Atari Corporation. Warner Communications retained ownership of Atari, inc's arcade division forming it into Atari Games. The Atari, inc. name would not appear again until Atari Corporation's assets, and Atari trademark were acquired by French publisher Infogrames Entertainment, SA (IESA) (current owner) in 2001. This acquisition lead to the corporate structure that is present today.
Infogrames rebranded itself as Atari SA, and renamed one of its subsidiaries as Atari, inc.. Under Atari SA, Atari Corporation's PC game division was renamed Atari Interactive. Most of Atari's IPs are still with Atari SA, but several were sold off when the companies filed for bankruptcy in 2013.

The Atari trademark has belonged to several companies, and control over its various IPs has changed over the storied history of the Atari name. This changes little in terms of what this tag is used for. Atari has retained most of its most recognizable assets over time, and is associated with new assets from its owner Infogrames, which has a storied history of its own. This tag can be used for properties Atari manufactured as well as content related to its video game IPs related to its home consoles, and its arcade releases. There was a time when these assets were developed separately under different companies, but the content was and still is considered Atari branded content.
