An (often involuntary) expression conveying pain, disgust, surprise, or embarrassment, usually seen as an immediate reaction (e.g. one might wince at a feigned punch to the face or being punctured with a needle). Typically involves one eye closed, one or both eyes partially closed, with the lower lid(s) raised, and often clenched teeth
