Muffin top is casual slang for the muffin-like shape of fat that spills out and over the waistband of bottomwear, characters that are slightly chubby may have subtle "muffin tops", while an overweight or obese character's "muffin top" will be very obvious.

Muffin top should not be confused with belly overhang (but often is), belly overhand is when the belly specifically hangs down over a character's waistline to some degree regardless of whether they're wearing clothes or not
