Though the picture itself is ambiguous and tagged appropriately Felix is a male.

Yes one person has a hard on for tagging it as female because they see "feminine" features. I don't. The shoulders and hips could easily be both, yet they continue to tag war the image. In this image I do not see any defining genitals, there is not even a hint of a bosom (flat chested is an understatement) and the body features could easily be male or female. This is clearly an ambiguous_gender image as it is presented.

yes but here gender tags are based on what can be see on image. they are not "what this characters actual gender is" tags, they are "what set of physical traits this character appears to have in this specific image" tags

In wich case, it should be tagged as "ambiguous gender" since there's no genitalia that confirms the characters gender

but the thing is that genitals are not the only sexual characteristic that matters. what also matters is for example character's body type and facial features.

or do you suggest that this ^ should be tagged as ambiguous gender and not male because you cant see a dick?

What I meant to say is what there's no clear assets that define the characters gender, because the wide hips and small shoulders aren't feminine exclusive assets. But if faping to this self convinced that is a girl give you please of mind, go haead

combination of numerous different feminine traits with lack of masculine traits means that it should be tagged as female. i am not trying to say that male characters cannot have wide hips or narrow shoulders. and im not trying to claim that this character *is* female. im only trying to say that according to the tagging rules, this character should be tagged as female because it looks like female.

That's almost saying a trap is actually a female when there are no explict parts shown like this one Felix is a Male and can be considered a shota trap, He is and always be male in the end so stop bringing confusion when it's clearly known by those who watched the anime that it's a male.

  • As much as I like the tag what you see rule and the reasons to use it, I clearly want to head desk when I see cases like these, the worst being a male Meowstic being tagged as female because, curvy simple legs = female

Any argument I have seen being made on the picture are very easy to dismiss one by one :
Those are thick eyelashes, they're not exclusive to females. Did the guy actually watch some anime before, because that style of eyelashes are commonly used on any gender. The only difference I can see is they're more "spiked" and detailed than usual, but that's not even close to call them feminine only.

Round hips and curvy thighs. Right, I forgot how males tend to have squared hips and thighs these days. I'm myself a tall thin slacker of a posture and my thighs are pretty big, and surprise I'm male. That's normal to have big thighs whenever you're male or female. Females do have wider hips, but that's it, and even here it doesn't mean males can't have wider hips.

Feminine leaning shape, right, because feminine poses are also exclusive to females or something. What I basically am reading here is, oh that person is doing a rather feminine pose, gotta be female for sure.

Can't wait for anything being chibified being tagged as female because anything round and simple looking automatically mean it's female

  • No genitalia is shown, the character is male and the artist hasn't stated otherwise. Sorry to all the straight guys out there, but this is at best "ambiguous_gender". Femboys and traps are actually a thing in this fandom. Get over it.

  • Following the vertical gender flowchart in the rules located here: e621.net/wiki/show/howto:tag_genders , the genitals are unknown, there are no breasts, and the body type is neither especially masculine or feminine. Correcting gender tag to "ambiguous_gender".

    1. the character has feminine face and feminine leaning body (wide hips, soft shapes, narrow shoulders, thin arms, slim hands and thick soft thighs)

By your logic the ambiguous_gender tag ought to be entirely eliminated, as in any picture you can find an arbitrary number of features that seem arbitrarily masculine or feminine. By the logic that this picture should be tagged female only, a vast majority of all members of the ambiguous_gender tag should as well.

If I may suggest an alternative: as it seems reasonable to me that both people searching with "female" and "ambiguous_gender" may want to find this picture, why not use both tags for cases where it IS strictly speaking ambiguous (that is to say there is no hard evidence that a character is male or female present in the picture), but that it also seems reasonable that people looking for a particular gender would also not find it disagreeable to be included in their search?

There does appear to be a precedent for such a compromise, as there are many pictures that show up when "female ambiguous_gender solo" or "male ambiguous_gender solo" are searched. It so happens that such a solution would both not conflict with the admin's order to keep the female and flat_chested tags while no longer excluding the picture from the searches of a group who would want to find it.

So if you value having access to your account you'll leave the damn tags alone.

You're gonna threaten people over a discussion that could lead to the improvement of the tagging system and the faults in it? How nefarious of them to have opinions and try to help.

  • I don't know why i'm commenting on a half-year-old tag war, but don't straight lines for the jawline indicate a male?

Let it die...it is all kinds of messed up. I live in Oregon, first state in the nation that allows a third gender choice. It can now say M, F, or X. This is the world we live in now.

    Try, and fail.
"Good intentions and the road to Hell," and all that, though to be honest, shitting up the comments and the tags isn't helping in the slightest.

Why is it tagged as female?

I just noticed the female and flat chested tags are locked. This is just stupid.

Why not leave it female in the tags (to comply with the rules)
and mention that he's male in the description instead, just for people to know
    post #1263110

i realize im 3 years late... but because if we were complying with the rules then it would be tagged ambiguous gender. the reason it matters that the tags are fixed on a ton of pictures on this site is because people are now not finding what they are looking for because the tags are forcibly locked to the wrong things and we as users cant fix them. this image is forever tag locked into a lie that now no one is able to fix but the admins themselves if they want to allow us users to put the correct tags in place. this is why so many people have a issues because they want to find what they are looking for and are instead being given things that arent what they search for. people have complaining on countless pictures forever ago but they will never be fixed
