  • Somehow it makes me think of the 90s as the dark ages:
No Internet but magazines, no MP3-players only CDs, no GPS, no DVDs only the TV-programm, going to school, a Super NES insteat of a 360 and a PS3, no cellphones, beeing just a child and the odd series on TV

But on the other side it makes me remeber a lot of cool stuff and just a cool time I do miss very, very much:
No Internet but magazines, no MP3-players only CDs, no GPS, no DVDs only the TV-programm, going to school, a Super NES insteat of a 360 and a PS3, no cellphones, beeing just a child and the odd series on TV

Have you ever played it on the original system next to the emulator? Playing it on the original system is so much better. :D

  • I only recognized 20, not including ones I've only known of since the turn of the century, and I was born in 1990.

Well, I've always been more suited to the 80s, and I didn't really get into gaming until my dad bought a N64. Reboot is the only thing I'd say I miss.

  • This is all American nostalgia stuff. Across the pond we had a few differences!
Mostly, however, I didn't really like most of the 90s. There were a few things that made me go 'oh yeah! that was great!' but even then I wasn't too fond of the garish clashing colours and whatever passed for 'stylish'. 00s were allot more toned down, but it'll probably take a few years before anyone can get proper perspective on the last decade.

  • King's Quest V, VI, and VII were all released in the early 90s and I loved them all. Then the series completely jumped the shark in the late 90s.

  • I remember so much of this stuff. For one thing Dinosaurs, Boy Meets World, Family Matters, and Step by Step were all in the same program block, TGIF. I also remember every year when the new ABC Saturday morning lineup was poised to start one of the TGIF shows did an overview. That was basically the characters watching the openings and saying how cool the shows looked. I remember Step by Step did it the year SatAM premiered.
I had Gak too. I liked to pretend it was a blob pet like from the "My Teacher is an Alien" book series. And Trapper Keepers were the fucking shit (in a good way) back then. I loved the surrealism of some of the art they put on them. That hyper vibrant colored stuff. One I remember looked like giant cones floating over a vast glass grid with the tips of the cones seeming to go through small portals to somewhere else. I would imagine Sonic and the Freedom Fighters exploring all those surreal places as if they were some kind of wild other dimension.
But I was not really aware of any music groups back then. I really only remember Kriss Kross because of other kids wearing shirts with Bugs Bunny and Taz dressed in oversized all backwards clothes.

  • Unfortunately, I was born in the late 90s so most of my childhood was spent in the 2000s. Maybe they should bring back some of this stuff...

Basically it means you're being a hypocrite. Accusing someone of doing something when you yourself do the exact same thing.
