Same reason why people make jokes about everything that is horrible really. Some people will do so, and there is no way to really stop them.

Tragedy? On the contrary. Physics worked beautifully that day. Such confirmation that the physical world is operating as it should is cause for celebration, if anything.

  • I know it's inappropriate to make jokes about death and such, but it's how we as a mortal life form copes with the idea that eventually we all die.

Though their lives were cut short, I don't like to think that anyone who died then would still want anyone to dwell on such an event, much less themselves.

It's okay to not laugh, but this shows that this event is something the artist was able to get over. It wasn't just people who lost friends, family and loved ones who were affected by this, many people, all around the world, felt grief about this event. Remember that reactor in Asia that people willingly entered and sacrificed their lives? I still feel saddened by that. And the lives lost during Hurricane Katrina, and the idea that thousands die daily due to warlords hunting diamonds in Africa.

I can joke about it though to make it a bit more manageable, and it's okay for you to do it too.

  • I think it was once said that when enough time has passed people should be able to make jokes about a tragedy.

I do infact find this funny, that doesn't mean I laugh when someone talks about 9/11, the people involved, or things like that, there is a time to be serious and a time to make jokes.

So why are so many people butthurt about people being butthurt just because they don't think this is funny?

If you think it's funny that's all that matters. Why do you have to get butthurt and complain over the guys who don't think it's funny? Not everyone is going to like the same thing.

Cyclopses are mythical creatures. If you are a mythical beast, you watch Rhett and Link. There are 5 letters in Rhett and 4 letters in link, 5+4=9. 9-9=0. There are 0 bagels in illuminati... 2,996 innocent lives were lost this day. Think of all the pain that people went through. People lost close relatives, children lost parents, best friends lost the ones they love. I hate to be the guy that rains on everyone's parade, but you should think about the horror of this day. This is why people get pissed off when you talk about 9/11 as some joke.

It was horrific and cruel back in the day, an inhumane attack on innocents, one of many which happen way to many times in all parts of the world. But it's almost a decade and a half ago. People tend to react to catastrophes by humor as a way of coping with the past. Eventually that attack will be in the distant past and no one will feel hurt about it anymore. We aren't there yet, but it will happen eventually. Black humor is what makes this transition easier.

Also, people die each and every day to banal or horrific circumstances, how empty would our life be if we would decide to feel sad about all of them at all times and never dare to laugh again?

I'm sorry about your friend, and for sounding so heartless. But some things just simply happen, and we cannot do anything. We cannot turn back time yet , no matter how badly we want to. I know how it feels, I having lost two cousins in the South Tower. I wish I had warned them, but wishes and reality are two completely different things at times. For years, I felt like you did. But then I felt that my two cousins would not have wanted me to grieve at them, but to continue on with my life. My two cousins were, in fact, very joyful and comedic, and I carry their memory by being a smart-ass comedian, because they would have wanted me to.

For one thing, laughter is great, but to laugh about 911 is wrong. This was a terrorist attack on America and thousands of people died. We can laugh and live on with life, but not laugh about such a serious matter. And everyone says to the people who don't find this funny(like myself), says they are butthurt, how so? Just cause they don't see humor in this terrible event in time? So what if it was 14 yrs. ago, no matter how long it has been, it's still hurtful to everyone who lost someone, or a survivor, or any American person.

It's up to you if you want to laugh. But I guess you got it the wrong way. Nobody laughs about a tragedy, because he or she wants to mock the victims. People laugh and make jokes about bad things to feel better about them. Things like black humor and gallows humor have a justified place in the world. You can't be bitter about the past forever, since you can't affect it anyways. Of course you can demand justice and the likes, but the world keeps on turning and with every second events slip further and further out of reach. At some point events stop being tragic, they turn into general history. But even before that happens humor is a valid way to deal with the past. You don't have to like a particular joke. If you lost someone in the incident you can even feel hurt about it and nobody could call you butthurt for that. So you certainly don't have to laugh at all about something you won't find funny. But please don't blame people who try to come to terms with the past and get over it. Humor always has been part of the process, no matter if it is good or bad humor. But as time progesses, there will be more and more humor, until nobody alive will care for the event in question anymore.

I think it was once said that when enough time has passed people should be able to make jokes about a tragedy.

I do infact find this funny, that doesn't mean I laugh when someone talks about 9/11, the people involved, or things like that, there is a time to be serious and a time to make jokes.

    *Earth Ends*

Aliens on mars: This will be a new viral story on our channel "comedic tragedy!"

    Amen

  • Better than "sixty9/11" a post that was made in MS Paint and is so bad I had to put it on my blacklist twice to make sure I never see it

Tragedy? On the contrary. Physics worked beautifully that day. Such confirmation that the physical world is operating as it should is cause for celebration, if anything.

    Yup.

In Germany we have a Country-Side song called "Reis die Hütte ab"
It says in English "Tear the Building down".

Me and my Mates sing it all Day at 9/11 :D

Pure coincidence. I mean, it [the attack] could have easily been the 12th, or the 10th, or any other day of the year, and you could have sung that song any other day of the year. The odds of both happening at the same time are extraordinarily slim. 1/133225, or .0075% chance to be exact.

    To all you downvoters...

I have a 20 dollar bill mounted in a picture frame in my living room.
I won it in a bet as to which target Al Qaeda would hit in 11th day of September, with planes loaded with explosives...

So they turned out to not have explosives...But it was close enough!

I only won the bet because MY TARGET GOT HIT FIRST. 0o0'

We bet on Trade tower A, Trade tower B, the white house, the Pentagon, and the statue of liberty.

    TWO WEEKS BEFORE IT HAPEND.

I was ten years old at the time. o,o

  • Hey guys, remember 9/11? Oh i cant bring that up?
Oh my bad. What about Pearl Harbor? Or hiroshima/nagasaki or chernobyl, or columbine, or maybe how about ALL of WW2???
Truths out folks, people are gonna poke fun at tragedies cause its a coping mechanism for whatever they’re going through, simple as that. Im not one to beat around the bush and i will admit i got a fair chuckle out of it. Yes,
I lost someone close to me on that day (uncle who worked in Tower B) but to attack others over this is just petty, grow a pair of balls and stop being internet snowflakes.

I'm not convinced faith can move mountains, but I've seen what it's done to skyscrapers.

Well, one could say faith has parted a sea... however it could also be simple meteorological & tidal phenomena. The ones chasing them simply didn't make it through in time and said phenomena subsided while they were in the way.

However, this is simply a theory some scientists posed.

At the very least, faith has moved countless armies. Faith has brought down nations.
Faith is, at the very least, able to move people.
