Like I said in my last post this post was gonna be of Princess Kurda from the Redwall book "Triss" unfortunately I missed my stated upload time of yesterday, I had it done yesterday just didn't get it uploaded so thats on me. This piece was really fun to work on though, Princess Kurda and Tsarmina Greeneyes are 2 of my favorite villians in all of Redwall so I've wanted to draw both of them for quite some time and now that I've actually done them both I'm very pleased. Of course there's some things wrong with both pieces and I would like to redo both sometime in the future, but with colour then, but for now they're both perfectly acceptable for what they are(quickish practice pieces). For Kurda's outfit I really didn't have much options since I don't remember too well what she is described as wearing in the novel and the wiki only has 2 small images of her, but in the end I tried to base my outfit off those 2 images along with some of the more popular outfits I found her wearing in other individuals fan arts of her. The only detail of her outfit I'm not super pleased with is her cape, I think it the cape itself is ok but the way the bottom corners of the cape are flowing I don't think is correct given the direction of the wind in this piece. Otherwise I'm happy I tried to show the wind was blowing and think I got that in most of the image, like I said before I don't think the curling of the cape corners is correct for this direction of wind and the skirt should probably be hugging her left (our right) leg a bit more but otherwise I think I did a good job. There's some other details I tried and worked with, again I tried adding flecks of highlight or deep shade to her fur to imply texture like I did in my Tsarmina piece and think its starting to work but I need more practice with it before I can make a definitive statement on whether or not I'll continue using it. Her tail is a bit of a odd anatomical choice, so I wanted to give her a short tail because I think ferrets have relatively short tails but all the other fan art and official art of her I found gave her a medium length tail so I compromised there and gave her a longer tail then I'd have given her otherwise. I also wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with her ears since I wanted to make the headdress a bit more pronounced then most fanarts and in the end went with fully hiding them under the headdress. All in all though I like this piece and definitely want to draw more Redwall fanarts, I really want to draw Flinky(best boy) and his wife Crinktail but that'll have to wait. I've been putting off practicing musculature for long enough so I've gotta do that first then I can draw more silly creatures from Redwall.
