A question to you - by Rufciu ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/rufciu/ )
Hello!
I'm curious if anyone would be interested in an art tutorial about drawing horses (and horse porn :v) from me?
When I was learning to draw I tried to look up some tutorials in books or in the Internet. It wasn't hard to find tons of wonderful art pieces and step-by-step instructions how to make them. Bewitched by the promise of gaining the skill to produce such an artwork myself I grabbed my pencil and eagerly started following them.
"First draw a circle, then another"... And then it turned out that all of the tutorials of this kind were based on this rule .
They covered the dumbest basics, then abruptly jumped to another level and things started to appear out of nowhere and they got me lost.
Not all were so brief. Some went in great lenghts to describe the stages, showing the artwork in dozens of steps. I tried to copy each of them, hoping to gain the mystical ability to... draw the most obnoxious creature I've ever seen? o.O One thing I know is that I felt sorry for it. Existence in such an anatomical condition must have been a life of suffering...
Something was obviously still missing in my process, so I tried again hoping for improvement. Several mutants later I reached the more-or-less desired artwork level. I thought: "YES! I finally learned to draw horses!" and grabbed a new piece of paper to draw another beautiful steed in some different pose and whoops... Turned out, after hours of hard work, I learnet to draw the particular picture and not horses in general.
For the next 7 years I've been working for many hours daily to learn how to draw a bit less unsightly horses. I did it, but I know it could have been much faster if I would spend all the time on learning and less on figuring out how to learn it.
I don't know about you, but neither I, nor any of my artist friends has ever profited much from typical art tutorials, so I thought, maybe I'd make a non-typical one, that would teach not "how to draw a horse", but "how to draw horses" and foremost how to learn to do that.
I wonder if anyone would be interested in something like that? What do you think about the idea? If you are interested, please leave a comment :)
