Anurri was just minding her own business on the roads around Skingrad when a group of Highwaymen decided to ambush her. As usual they demanded every gold coin she had on her, as well as anything else that they could fence. When she told them to shove off, they attacked.

Yes, she was outnumbered, but it would've taken more than a dozen of them to even be a problem. Unfortunately for them, their decision to attack was their most fatal mistake. All they managed to do to her was slash her shirt with a dagger. She immediately retaliated with her Nightblade magic, conjuring ethereal daggers of her own and calling them out for their perceived stupidity as she removed these fools from the gene pool.

They could not be faulted for picking her at their target; she wasn't carrying visible weapons and she was traveling alone.
