As stated in the previous Hornet post, I try to draw Hornet at least once a year. It's something I do as an exercise in technique. What I wanted to practice with this piece was drawing bug carapace and general body proportions, making this Hornet look a bit more 'armory' in comparison to the previous. I also wanted to practice backgrounds, most notably water and rocks. I'm not entirely happy with how the water turned out, but it is about as good as I can get it to look at the moment. Tried using different 'blending' pencils on the rocks to give them the illusion of texture. Wanted to make the whole background and foreground more coherent in comparison to the previous drawings.

This piece was inspired by two pieces in the same setting drawn by Fluffbird. I really like how they color and line, their pieces have a very sharp and complete feel to them.
