  • I don't remember Mickey picking up the whole-ass mother pig and playing her teats - I wonder if that got cut somewhere down the distribution pipeline? i know a few years back Disney did an exhibition with their old films and cut some of the animal abuse scenes from Steamboat Willie (I think mainly the cat?) so wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

You just upload a whole cartoon lol

    A brief reminder.
THIS version of Mickey Mouse is NOW in the public domain, meaning it is free to be posted and used as the public sees fit.
    So...why not?
Still...a hilarious idea at the end of the day.

It was removed by Walt himself, he regretted that joke

Mickey was very much a troublemaker in the old cartoons. Kinda the reason they were popular was because they were energetic and comical to make up for the lack of color and little dialogie.

  • I wasn't around when this animation was first shown to the world. But I distinctfully remember watching it as a kid and loving it. I don't remember how I found it as a kid but I do remember rewatching it many times. Funny seeing it here now.

  • There's a rumor floating that one of walts animators made a porno staring Micky and Minnie and gave it to Walt on his birthday. He was immediately fired and the film was presumably destroyed

  • Sure, just put the entire unaltered cartoon on here lol. What a delightful classic (and I can now say that with clear conscience)

It's truly the beginning of a new age. Superman and Popeye have some PD cartoons too but it's something extra special that this character, to just even the smallest of degrees, is now free use. I mean, not that it ever stopped artists before but now that most wicked of companies can no longer force their hand

  • it only makes sense for this to be here but id be lying if i told you i expected this to happen

brace yourselves yall, we can expect a bunch of Mickey Mouse cartoons to start entering the public domain in the following years, including the sound version of Plane Crazy and about 12 other shorts made in 1929 by next year alone unless disney pulls another mickey mouse protection act (which i doubt they'll do)

It always sounded weird cause of Disneys clean Image but honestly after watching 7 minutrs of the mouse being a dick it doesnt seem too crazy

Traditionally he's always been a bit of a stinker. He dropped Minnie mouse from a plane because he rejected his attempts to get fresh with her in one episode

Many people that have worked with Disney have made adult cartoons.

copyright my have expired but don't forget that they still hold the trademark law, and thanks to inserting the old cartoon into their openings on all their content, now they can still protect the mouse with trademark infringement, so don't go too overboard with using the mouse in your stuff, you can still technically get sued for it.

You've never seen 20th-century cartoons, have you? It was basically all slapstick. You should see the old Tom and Jerry lol.

I mean it's horny artists being themselves. Doesn't have anything to do with the public company's image, right? I'd believe it too, especially since artists who draw what's considered smut still work in studios, in different levels of silence.

  • I don't think disney would let this version fall in public domain so easily, I'm pretty sure they left some traps on the road, be careful.

You're right they wouldn't let it fall into public domain easily. Thats why it stayed copywritten for almost 100 years. This came out in 1928. It is no longer protected as of this year. It's completely safe to share and distribute it now. You can even sell tickets to view it if you could find anyone willing to buy.

I donโ€™t know, but hereโ€™s something else that might get downvoted

There are different versions of steamboat Willy out there, only the original is public domain, remastered or reworked versions that came out later are still protected under copyright, so you have to ask yourself, which version is this steamboat Willy? This video may need to be taken down if itโ€™s a 4K remastered version or any other version that came out later.

Great way to reset the clock, haha. Even better, let's hide the originals from even the copyright office.

  • Something deep inside me just want to look over every frame just for a reason to give this an Questionable or even Explicit rating

On the other hand, That would make it less likely to show up in online search results, and while we can't defeat YT, Wikipedia, or Internet Archive, we can still defeat the PornHub upload

  • Kudos to anyone who correctly tagged this overrated junk as "animal abuse". It's crazy how it still runs at Disneyland restaurants in a loop, where I watched it for the first time and literally got angry about it. That's neither charming, nor kids entertainment. Mickey is an a**hole in this.
