Facing Electrolight

When an alarm went off at a downtown convenience store, the Iron Dragon's patrol route had her within a few blocks. She wasn't on a complex route; it was more a deterrence display than anything else. A smarter crook would have at least timed his heist for when she would have been at her maximum distance away. But no one ever accused Electrolight of being a very bright criminal. If he knew how to use his powers better, he could have been a real threat. But as it was, he tended to show up, make a big light show, and then expect the civilians to just surrender and give him whatever he demanded. Sometimes they did, particularly when he was just grabbing a pre-made sandwich or something. Sometimes they just said 'no' and left him flummoxed and arguing with them about how they had to do what he said since he had powers.

At least he wasn't a really bad guy. He didn't actually use those lightning blasts on civilians - he'd threaten with them, even use low-level jolts to try to prove he was serious, but he didn't cross the line. He didn't even zap non-heroes very often, not since he'd accidentally hit someone with a pacemaker and been scared to death that he might've just accidentally killed somebody. He'd stayed in jail for a month that time, afraid to use his powers. Then he'd mostly forgotten it and went back to his usual habits again.

The Iron Dragon hadn't had any trouble. She just opened the door and zapped him with a stun bolt, and he went down, nice and easy. If he understood the electromagnetic spectrum better, he probably could have blocked her blast entirely. As it was, she was heading off to drop him off with the police in under a minute.
