probably the "degeneracy is a nazi dog whistle part." They worded it like calling out someone for doing immoral sexual acts automatically means you're Hitler or something.

I mean, I understand what degeneracy means, but nowadays when people use it, it's usually to kink-shame others. Do you enjoy feral content? Degenerate. Inflation? Degenerate. Vore? Degenerate. This is e621, for god's sake! A literal sanctuary for degeneracy. What's so wrong about saying "hey, if you're constantly trying to regulate what other people should not enjoy, you're behaving like Hitler"?

  • I agree with the "Keep Furries un-marketable for corporations", the last thing we need is "representation" - that never turns out good for the groups they want to help.

To be fair, "Nazi" gets thrown around inflationary as well for everybody that disagrees to something. Isn't it a bit extreme to always compare trivial stuff with a regime that industrialized genocide?

That's a fair point and I agree that the whole thing could be better worded, but I think the overall message is the important part of this illustration. I'm personally tired of people trying to restrict fictional content for others because they have a sense of "moral superiority", but I guess that's either not a popular opinion, or they just didn't like the way the message was worded (even if they agree with it).

it literally is. they wholeheartedly subscribed to "social degeneration" theory. it was a core part of their propaganda and tactics and the justification for their slaughter of jews, black people, trans people, gay people, and disabled people. every time you call someone a "degenerate" even as a joke you're giving that belief life.

The problem with this kind of attitude is that everyone has a limit. And everyone's limit is something different. You may look at a dick covered in smegma and not blink, the guy next to you is rolling on the ground vomiting. And the reverse is true there's something he can tolerate, and you can't. And if everything is just a-ok no matter what then eventually something will come up that disgusts both of you, but neither is allowed to do anything about it.

So? Good. "Disgust" is not a moral precept. Mind your own business.

I genuinely try my hardest not to get tangled in pointless internet drama, but sometimes I see a take so questionable that I can't help it.

Being a part of a community with a bad reputation is going to make people not like you. It's inevitable. Even people within your group are going to find someway to dislike you. You just have to learn to let go of those people.

However, the part I'm most concerned about it you comparing other people's sexual distastes to fascism. There are just some people that take it too far. Zoophilia and Pedophilia are unfortunately common practices in this fandom. The problem lies with consumption of degenerate media.

That being said, I think most kinks are acceptable as long as it's in the realm of legality. I could really care less about that. I mean, I'm on a furry porn site for God's sake.

However, there are some people associated with some kinks that I stray away from. These being cub, zoophilia, rape, and things like that. It's been proven time and time again that consumption of this media leads to real life consequences. One of the most important cases is probably Jared Fogle, who ran an underground ring of child porn for several years before people caught on. It all started because he figured his sexual fantasies of fucking little kids was "normal."

Comparing people disgusted by rape and child porn to people that killed over six million innocent adults and children using some of the most inhumane ways of cruel and unusual punishment involving Zyklon B is outlandish.

The reason most people don't take accusations of "Nazis," "Racists," or "Bigots," seriously is because they often hold little to no regard for humans that actually are "Nazis," "Racists," or "Bigots."

I hope anyone reading this can realize that some things are just too far. If you constantly consume things like cub art, (which is illegal, but the government doesn't take it that seriously) then please seek help. Disappointingly, you can't "blacklist" your brain's overwhelming need to go out and rape innocent people or believe that kids and animals can consent.

Gonna have to contest that notion that consumption of "questionable" content will lead to enacting said actions IRL (at least the way it's being assumed here). Now yes, if someone does constantly and endlessly consume such content, then yes, that could eventually lead to an incident in reality. That said, there are two factors that are glossed over here. 1: That this is along the lines of an addiction. And 2: The mental state of the individual in question.

An accurate comparison for this would be the Sandy Hook incident. Those two were well known for being avid fans of doom, as well as being metal fans ( then even listened to Rammstein, who caught some heat after the incident). Now, we can look back on that and realize that they were individuals who weren't in the greatest mental state. At the time, however, all forms of media were to blame, from video games and music to even Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

The reality is that these pieces of media are not the source for these incidents. Yes, they can be a catalyst in certain situations, but anything can be with the right circumstances. Are suger and salt the blame for someone being obese and having type II diabetes, or their inability to cut out or even cut back on such foods? In the end, it's not the media, but the individual that's the problem. It's not the media that creates this conditions.

This takes me back to the ending quip on SCP 804: World Without Man. "They simply wanted to do it."

I always say this yeah. Look how excited furries get over [latest video game with anthro character]. Look at the Pokesonas. Look at the abject worship of Disney products. But god forbid Pepsi tries to market to them, nosiree, furries are toooo smart for that corporate subversion! • For those unaware, this was a response to a different edgy piece of art that lumped anyone (and yes, anyone) who liked paws, anatomically accurate genitals, feral characters, or traits of feral characters (digi legs, or quadrupedal characters in general) in with zoophilia. Basically if you like any of the listed stuff above, they're calling you an animal abuser. This was of course stated by some kink-adverse just-of-age "puriteen" furs that see it as their duty to "fix" the Fandom.

The message retorted (this art) is sloppily conveyed but I ultimately agree with the gist: stop trying to "fix" the Fandom by removing kinks that you personally don't like. Its the discourse wheel spinning as it does.
    "Pup hoods are sus."
    "Babyfur is sus."
    "Knots/flares are sus."

The post is literally calling to murder "prudes" and you pull the enlightened centrist card on someone who doesn't fall in line with this insane call to violence? I should hope everyone would be an "enlightened centrist," then.

TBF, he does have a point. Back when I dipped into political discourse, most centrist I've seen typically thrashed both sides as being rotten. If anything, I've seen more nuanced viewpoints from open minded people on both sides, people that can acknowledge the good points each side bring up while still calling out where each side falls short. Being middle road doesn't necessarily make you "enlightened," it just means you don't really side with the values of one side or the other, for better or for worse.

see the problem is when you say: "(we) are oppressed and under attack by (social enemy) and I say kill em all, so never talk to (our enmy)" your hitting on fascism talking points dosn't matter what your cause is.
so long as you put the blame for your problem in a "oppressive" group that actually cant fight back, You are a fascist. "kill em all" is a dog whistle weather you realize it or not.

even if i agree with your img, you cant __JUST__ enjoy shit, you need to keep asking why and what it means to the things you want or do.

And they do try to inpose their wills on others, sometimes even systematically so I do think it's fair to feel contempt for prudes, especially if you grew up in an environment where they hurt you

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance

Took a part of that and wanted to post it here:

Less well known [than other paradoxes] is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.โ€”In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant.

I think this does encapsulate very well the way I feel about this, I don't give two shits if this person feels the way that they feel, but the fact that they want to promote and push this without any kind of proper discourse is a problem, and the fact that they have such a blind loyalty to the misinformation that they spout, without even considering the nuances of everything revolving around it, makes this extremely dangerous. I already live in a post-Trump dystopia that is getting worse and worse because there are too many people who are blinded by this kind of unchecked reality, and it's creating more and more problems as time goes on.

I appreciate the people who want to call this out, and sometimes you just have to fight to make the right call. I know this is going way out of the scope of the context, but I think it's important to think about a lot of the hypocrisy inside of this community, and that while this particular discussion revolves around the conceptualization of these things, I still see comments up here that are completely condemning individuals who do in fact find the real thing attractive, and I don't see how you are able to make such a call without actually having a conversation regarding that.

Again, just because you don't understand it or can't comprehend within your own head that this does exist, doesn't mean that you get to automatically write off anybody who may have a legitimate disagreement in regards to that. I didn't choose life, the life chose me, and frankly, it's hard to exist in a space that you think has your back, all the while every single thing that you see is pointing to the opposite of that. I would rather see my enemy than be surrounded by a bunch of fakers.

So yeah, I expect repercussions for my post, but that is also my point: The fact that there is no proper discourse for this type of thing where people can pass judgment carefree but not consider the people who might actually have to deal with this, that really sucks, and considering how many different walks of life live in this community, it really is kind of shitty. I usually lurk because I know that there is a lack of tolerance for certain viewpoints on many of these sites, and I know there's a time and a place for this, but I felt like this was it.

Oh, I agree with this one hundred percent... but the reason the Artist is being called out and the image is being Downvoted isn't so much about the "edginess" of the drawing, but rather the fact they threw in their own little "Asterisk" (basically, everything else is fine and dandy -- ***except for Cub).
