Memberoh they're using commas for decimals
MrOmg
MemberThe fun has been ruined by efficiency.

MemberWell, 1:4 means you need 1/5 concentrate by volume...not 1/4

lurkmore
MemberEhh, if you can eyeball half-full you can eyeball one-fifth-full.
Llollt
MemberYeah... that's 1 of x and 4 of y, for 5 total.
Or knows how odds work. Same principle.
The mistake is much easier to realise with 1:1; if you poured in a full glass of each, you'd get a big mess on the table.
BananFisk
MemberI like how page 666 of FIL is about math
PurpleDragon2020
MemberThat would make 1:3
Calydor
MemberBlue, come on. The taste is much better with too much concentrate, anyway.
LeastSquares
MemberColon nomenclature is ambiguous. Use "1+4" for 1/5 volume by volume.
brx8
MemberWell 1 glass of each is technically still the correct ratio tho.
snowie
Memberwhen a person think they can make cement mixes and wonders why it was to wet
as its 1 to 4 parts which will equal 5 parts total, as you just usa-Core mathed, you equal to 6 parts not 5..
Llollt
MemberIf you wanted 2 glasses of result, yes. But not if you're trying to make 1.
And how much is 1 part of 5? That's right, 1/5. You need 1/5 of one and 4/5 of the other, for a total of 1. You set yourself up there.

BlockedExcuse me, I was told there would be no math.

anonymouslurker99
MemberFuck you, 1,000.00 is better than 1.000,00. Commas are for continuations, periods are for stopping. So use commas to continue between number places, and periods to stop and separate the decimals from the whole numbers. Or use commas for periods and periods for commas, either one would end your hypocrisy.
ForThePlot
Memberthis but also commas are used to separate distinct numbers in coordinate notation (e.g. (1,2) meaning {x = 1; y = 2}), so using commas as decimal separators is contradictory with mathematical notation as well as with punctuation in Latin-script languages in general.
look point being: just because metric is objectively superior to imperial in basically every way (and also the US and UK (but mostly US) often have fucking stupidass policies in general compared to mainland Europe) doesn't mean every little formatting thing Europe does is good and reasonable

MemberOh, this is a European thing? I just kinda figured the artist wrote this way because Blue says it aloud "O, eight," "One, seven five," "O, one seven five," etc.
Ahahaha~
