In one campaign, I play a green dragonborn druid, a treant bard, a wolf-demon fight/warlock, a treant cleric, and a minotaur muscle wizard (barbarian).

The dragonborn is my main, the wolf-demon was supposed to be my secondary character but ended up being sidelined in favor of the treant bard who has become everybody's favorite character. The treant cleric was supposed to be a one-off character, but ended up as another secondary character. And the minotaur was supposed to be a one-off villain character, but the DM fell in love with the character and he ended up becoming a mercenary that keeps popping up.

Considering I've seen a tree growing out of a boulder, seeing one growing in the middle of a bridge isn't that much of a stretch. I can only guess the people tasked with taking care of that bridge just liked the idea of a tree growing there.
