De todas las cosas que esperaba ver en este sitio, no esperaba al p_ndejo presidente de mi país.

I have Cable TV and never see the face of that being either in the whole 100 channels or so. Thank God.

(Nor that I look for it).

  • "I promise to defend the country like a bitch!"

    Historical context behind this phrase:

Mexico in the 70's, as an oil exporter nation, was dick-riding from the 1973 Oil Crisis and the 1979 Energy Crisis expensive oil prices and starting spending left and right (also corrupt politicians pocketing for themselves). After these crisis, the market accelerated oil production and led to the 1980's Oil Glut, were the price of oil crashed. Mexican President at the time José López Portillo had the economy very reliant on oil, so when one crashed, the other did also.

On his last months of his term, he said publicly: "I'm committed to defend the Peso like a dog." This entered the mexican culture as "I'll defend the Peso/country like a dog", reaching meme status.

Did he really defend the peso like a dog? Of course he didn't, and that marked the start of the Mexican Lost Decade.

The phrase is usually used in México to denote an empty promise.
