  • When you run an ultra-expensive giant mansion but don't have the budget for a blackboard, you can always wear the tail of a dragon princess.

  • In case of emergency Reni's ass can act as an impromptu blackboard. And a very sexy one at that!

  • Magic is a double edged sword. Its an amazing force that can make life so much better when used properly, but at the same time with it capable of solving many problems by itself, the civilization using it stagnates. There's no need for it to advance technologically.

    like religion!
though seriously, when a society with magical capabilities gets to the point actually technologically advancing, they'll be have a giant hand up on us in developing, it'd be technomagic, and thusly technomancy would develop. they don't necessarily need technological advancement either, the workings of a society are to make the livings of the individual easier over time.

Did the magic tables exist at the beginning of the universe? Sorry bruh any sufficiently advanced magic would be indistinguishable from technology. If you could get wizards working in factories to produce magic artifacts in bulk you could have a society like ours. Especially if a good education is widely available. On the other hand if advanced magic were only available to nobility they would be likely to stagnate or protect the status quo. So the limiting factor would be the societies structure and the freedom to innovate, not it's tech base.
