Explaining the (somewhat) obvious: The peace signs, like the body writing, are a carry-over from Japanese porn. The signs are in Japanese porn because they're a carry-over from ordinary Japanese photography: for some unknown reason, it became a cultural thing to make the sign when taking a casual picture, the way people say "cheese" here.

They were probably carried over to porn as a signifier of humiliation, the same way one might force miserable people to smile to demean them.
