Precarious

Anywhere I went for leisure I hadn't any company, and there were days this bothered me more than usual. I didn't want to show weakness, but at the same time it was exhausting holding everything in like this. For the past several years I'd always been too busy to explore more than the occasional carnal prospects, blowing off steam after some weeks or months of work stress and resuming the routine the next morning. Nothing deep, nothing meaningful, but enough to clear my head for a time...enough to pretend that whoever I was with was more than someone whose services I was paying for.

Maybe that was what I needed tonight.
