On patreon Zonkpunch mentioned that he was not sent any letters. He saw the comotion and changed it to avoid any trouble.

I know this will probably be downvoted but who cares: This and his previous work have got to be some of the worst he's put out.

Let me explain: compared to his older animations, the tweening is just so distracting. Like yeah the art looks fine i guess, but the animation just looks awful. It's a downgrade in quality, mostly enjoyed by people who absolutely adore every piece of work he has put out. I really hope he improves the animation in his newer works from now on, because as of right now it's basically 100% tweening.

I'm more or less glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that tweening.

I liked the animation quite a bit, but it definitely felt a bit repetitive and wonky in most scenes. The Braixen X Charizard animation felt like the superior straight animation, compared to this one.

I totally understand that he had to make changes to this one halfway through, but I would have thought more time would have been put into it.

His new upcoming Gay one looks like it's having more effort put into it than this Miata animation.

Kinda hoping his next straight one sees a return to form.

Not because I wouldn't enjoy Blaziken with Feraligatr, but because I feel Miata has a more appealing design than Blaziken and I think a vixen contrasts more nicely with a reptile than a bird-esque creature would.

I'm gonna have to disagree. I've actually seen some of the progress stuff that had Blaziken and Feraligatr and it looks way better than the final animation. Maybe it's not specifically the design, but the colors popped out a lot more. They feel kind of muted in the final version by comparison...

Just for a little clarification because I'm seeing some mixed comments in the section. This was originally supposed to be a scene between Feraligatr x Blaziken. But at the time, Nintendo was cracking down on artists that were making money with things like Patreon with mature art featuring Pokémon. (I think this was leading up to Sword/Shields release)

If I recall, Zonk mentioned on one of their social media sources that Nintendo never forced them to change the original. But instead, since the original was never released fully yet, that they went ahead and changed it to the characters now to avoid catching Nintendo's attention. They had never fully released the version with the Pokémon characters (though it can be found with enough digging) and went with all new characters for the actual release to avoid a Cease and Desist from Nintendo.

The original was intended to be Feraligatr X Blaziken. But that version was never finished. It was also around the time Pokémon Sword/Shield was being released and usually when they have new games coming out, Nintendo cracks down hard on some furry artists and order Cease and Desist on those using Pokémon characters. Some good examples are insomniacovrlrd, Kuroodod, and Fuf all having rather popular comics involving Pokémon and they had to end up redesigning the characters or completely changing the comics so the characters couldn't be considered Pokémon anymore.

My understanding is Zonk wanted to make the Feraligatr X Blaziken version...but instead went with this version here so they wouldn't be in Nintendo's crosshairs. Though, if you look hard enough online, you can find the unfinished version with Feraligatr and Blaziken.

I don't think that's a good thing tbh. The artist never finished/released the Pokémon version to avoid getting heat from Nintendo. So I don't think spreading the unfinished version the artist didn't intend to release to avoid possible legal troubles (or whatever Nintendo does to artists) around as much as possible is what the artist would want.
